District 9 argument I had with someone, or maybe i was just grandstanding
Hey,
First off i love movies, I am love debates so with that lets get in this,
We kept missing each other on face book im, but i wanted to understand why you didn't like the movie.
Here are the various perspectives that I had when I watched the movie,
1. Yeah there is no proof of aliens but i think you have to look pass that part.
2. All movies that I have seen with aliens always uses the plot where the aliens are invading or looking to exploit earth's resources but in this movie humans were doing the invading and exploiting.

3. In this country there is a problem with immigration and illegal aliens etc, this movie referred to
3a. how illegal aliens they are treated
3b. at the same time it also touches on how infeasible it is when immigration becomes unmanageable ( overcrowding, and resource depletion) when a country tries to provide for millions displaced, in the movies the humans in the country complained about resources going foreigners that weren't contributing to the country
3c, It also touched on how illegal aliens can become wasteful and take advantage of a situation.
3d. it touched on illegal aliens treated as second class citizens.
3e. it touched on humans willingness to use the aliens when its convenient (take their advance weapons) , in real world terms this would similar to we Americans loving to reap the benefits of cheap labor from illegals but at the same time blame them for all the problems.

Africa has historically been exploited for its natural resources, and if you watch mainstream media one would think that the African continent is devoid of anything worthwhile but in reality there is coal, oil and diamonds and a lot social distress in that content is from foreign countries manipulation of the government and media to once again steal the resources, in this movie media was used to manipulate everyone opinion of the aliens, making them out to be stupid and have nothing of value when the whole time they had advance weaponry, when they had the man hunt for the main character they used media to slander his name with sexual immorality, this kind of disinformation happens today, just look at the past presidential elections.

5. Cannibalism to gain power (in the movie foolish attempt to gain the use of weaponry), and religion :
Bible John 6:54 "Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."
